In one of the forums I frequent, one of the conversations started out as a discussion about a particular work at home job. They were discussing the details, questioning the legitimacy of the company… all typical when discovering a new opportunity.
When someone started a rumor that they might be offering only $4.50 an hour for work, it turned into a rather interesting debate.
Some people believed that some money is better than nothing. They wanted to take on the work, and hopefully find better work in the future, all the while earning just $4.50 an hour.
Some, including me, wanted to say they were bottom feeders and that, being that they were a United States company, they should be ashamed of offering low wages. They should increase the wage. People should look for work somewhere else.
Those willing to work rebutted that if they didn’t take the job, someone else will. Someone else would be making the money they could have made.
This is an ongoing argument in the work at home world. All industries, I think, probably have this problem as well.
We all mean well. We want people to earn what they are worth. We, personally, don’t care what others do to earn a living, as long as they are honest with themselves and others.
I don’t think this is an argument that anyone could win. Not ever.
When discussions come up, things get heated. Some people feel ashamed that they want to take the work at home jobs with the lower rates, simply because it was offered. They don’t like others pulling out those feelings by arguing that they should work for someone who would pay them more.
We can’t control others, I know. It stirs up a lot of emotions. It makes you feel powerless. As much as I am moved to want to help someone else earn more, so they can live easier and without stress, I can’t control others and what they do.
I’m a problem solver. It irks me that I can’t come up with a reasonable answer for people. It troubles me that I want a simple conclusion. It doesn’t appear to have a direct answer.
Or maybe it does, and I haven’t discovered it yet. I might do some research…
