About My Writing
November 30th, 1999 by Me
I had a wild imagination when I was younger, and I loved books, but I never imagined writing as a career. Books were written by the very old, or the authors were dead and long gone, all the good books that is. As much as I was enchanted, I couldn’t imagine doing it.
No, I wanted to act out the scenes in my head, so I thought I’d like being an actress. Of course thinking about it in your head and doing it are two completely different things. My shyness got in the way of that.
Then, I thought I could express my ideas through drawing and create worlds by being an artist. My hands are none too steady and while I do still sketch, I’ve never picked up on drawing classes.
When I was 16 or so, a boy I knew wrote poetry, so I wrote some in order to impress him. It didn’t win him over, but the writing stuck. Suddenly I was open to a new world, I could express myself through writing! And why not? It allows me to be a bit shy, I could imagine huddling away in an old house, typing away at some new novel and happily living life selling stories.
If only it were that easy…
But, the writing did stick, and so far it has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. I can write about things that interest me, and have done for a number of years. As time went on, I found more reasons to turn my full attention to writing, and a number of ways to make money doing it.
So my website and my blogs are my way of contributing back, to bring into focus what I have learned, and as a reference for myself for ideas, job leads and more. As most of the readers to my website know, I don’t post things just to post it. I actually use the links to writing jobs and other items on my website nearly every day.
I look forward to many more years of writing, and hope this will help to contribute the things I have learned about writing.
Thanks for reading!
