Websites

I’ve always like creating my own websites. I tried to work out creating websites for other people. Once I finally landed a job making websites for other people I realized I didn’t like that part. I probably could fall back on creating websites for money but now… I don’t want to.

I consider creating websites fun. I like to build my own to give something to others. It is my own little way of contributing to the world. For that reason, I don’t put anything on my websites I don’t like or wouldn’t use.

For example, my own website for writers has freelance writing job lists. There is nothing on those lists I don’t use myself. In fact, I go back every day to go through my lists and see who is hiring. I also put get paid to blog and get paid to post job leads as I have often though of doing this on the sly.

In addition, I will soon be adding links to magazine’s and comic books I would like to write for. I won’t be putting the link to the main page though, just to the submission guidelines page.

I like all this organizing as it keeps me sane when I am trying to find the markets I like. Not even Writer’s Market has updated links to every day writing jobs. I bet anything I’ll have more links to comic book publishers once I’m done with my list. I already have twice as much.

What’s next? Greeting cards? We will see. ;)

Anyways, tornados are hitting my area lately. Crazy. Will my house fly away?

Writing Case Studies

I have something new to learn about. I bought an ebook on writing case studies and now I can’t stop thinking about it. Could this be something new for me to try out?

After I read the ebook, I wrote my own case study. I’m working hard to figure it all out. I am hoping once I get the hang of it, I could try writing for a few companies to see if I like it.

Case studies are a step above testimonials. They actually show how your product helps to improve someone else’s life. They are mainly used for business to business marketing, but it is said it is used with customers too.

I’ll share a sample case study later.

I’m Back

Yes, I’ve been gone. I had a blog on my own website, but it is gone now. The software was vulnerable to attacks from hackers. So now I’m back to blogger.

Actually it’s better this way I think. :) But I see I have a few spam messages in my comments. I’ll leave those for now but I’ll be sure to add a spam blocker or something later to this too.

Anyways, I’m looking at getting a new house and everything soon. My cats and dogs need some room to run. Especially the dogs. They have been kept up in a small pin too long. They need more than what walks I can give them during the day. I can tell they are so bored. I buy them toys and they chew them all up. :)

I’m updating my website soon. I’ll be posting more soon.

Relief

I’m nearing the end of the month. I have one huge over $1000 project due in 10 days or so. That’s okay because I have plenty of time for it. My short story is nearly complete, just under the nose. I have only two articles on my to do list and after that… not a lot.

There is never a dull moment in my work. I can’t wait to move into a house and then being able to spread my stuff out. I am looking at a couple of two bedroom places to rent. Very nice to know that soon I could have my own office to do what I like with. ;)

Will that mean I will have more work done? Haha, I don’t know about that. Maybe. Maybe I’ll feel like working more when my bedroom isn’t my office too. I won’t be distracted by Hubby or Button or Bonehead or the dogs or television or anything.

Aside from that, I can’t wait to break away from nonfiction. I have my class assignment that I need to work on and then to edit my novel. I finally feel ready for that part now.

The Kick Button

If only there were a kick button on my computer. How happy I would be.

I could kick stupid people, no matter where they were. If they say something stupid or if they are a nitwit, you could just press the kick button and they would get a rightous kick in the rear end.

Take this guy for example.

Obviously, someone could not read. I feel sorry for people posting on the Craigslist.com place. I appreciate people who post legit jobs, including the people who ask for free work in exchange for some exposure. This one post though… I would never hire the guy responding to it.

You do this and I’ll write you a few movie reviews, but only for movies I like, deal?

Yeah, sure… If only I had a kick button.

I write reviews. I will write them for free, for free movies or books, heck I’m there. You can always tell the newbie writers. They all have attitude and think they are worth pining for. They forget… there are 100 other writers willing to take your spot in an instant with less pay and less hassle.

Anyways, yes, I am somewhat better organized. Okay not really but I have a better idea of how I want to work out my writing. It is going to take time to adjust but I guess we get better as we go along and figure it out.

And yes, I know I have to update my “Blogs I Read” list. I have been visiting a lot more author’s blogs lately. :) I love this blogging thing among writers. Makes life more interesting. I feel less like the lonely writer stuck in front of a computer all day.

Paying for Reviews?

This I wanted to post on my scams page, but this made much more sense. :)

Okay, to start read the following web page:

http://jhooverwebcopy.com/bookmarketing.htm

Am I the only one who does not see how DUMB this is? Paying $300 for someone to review your books?

I’ll tell you what. Send me your book for free. I’ll read the thing, review it for this website and pass you information on where else you can send your book to get it reviewed… also for free. If you need, I’ll help you put together a package you can send to some of the major book review websites and magazines.

I just hate seeing people getting taken.

Also, if you want an article about your book review written and submitted to directories, I can see some place like Keyword Writers – content producers – who will write any article you want for as little as $10. Pay them $50 and you’ll have your article submitted to over 100 directories.

That’s a lot less than $300.

Can you say: “This guy is a JERK and doesn’t know what he is doing.” I knew you could. ;) This guy has no clue how book reviews work NOR does he know how to promote a book. And he is ghastly overchargeing.

Anyone reading this: Don’t pay for book reviews. You may not like the book reviews you get with some websites, but if people found out you paid for a review… watch out.

Organizing

Alright… this week I am going to be one organized writer. ;)

I’m going through every piece of material I have and figuring out something that will work. If I have to reorganize the entire house, I’m going to find a way to sort out writing articles, writing and editing fiction and to put my work on a regular basis of progression.

Instead of standing still in a mess, like I have been doing. Wish me luck. ;)

I have 4 days to complete a 3,000 word short story. -.- I want to turn it in tomorrow afternoon. Maybe. I should work on it now. Not motivated though.

Not inspiring, is it? I have someone wanting a story and I take nearly all month to write it down. Unmotivation. Sucks. Shouldn’t be happening. I should have had it done the first day I got the assignment.

Time to change my attitude. ;)

Up Late

I’m up late and I have to get up early to write tomorrow morning. -.- I actually turned on instant messangers and guess what? I’m up late at night chatting with friends. I love my friends. :) I just wish I could figure out how to balance out friends and work.

Maybe I work too much. When I chat I chat too much. :( Never a fair trade.

I’m sort of brain dead and don’t know what to say. I had a whole thing for a blog panned out earlier and I forgot what it was. Something about organizing.

Oh. I installed RAM into my computer. I’m up to 640? I think. I don’t know if it is good or bad to have so much but the computer works pretty well.

Ya for me. :)

House Shopping

I’m too picky when it comes to picking a house to rent. Hubby doesn’t care. If it has a roof and four walls and we can afford it… good.

As for the other stuff… location and how it looks, I care about that. He isn’t about to rent a trash house for $1000 a month but if I’m going to be paying that much for rent, I want something I can feel comfortable in.

Anyways, I was so sleepy today I didn’t get anything done. Not the short story, not the articles… not anything. I hate that. It just means I HAVE to get up early tomorrow and work my bum off to get every thing done. Not to mention writing a couple of book reviews AND doing some editing for some short stories and my novels.

Busy life.

As much as I hate it, I can’t wait to move again. Hubby wants this to be the last move for at least a year. He wants to sign a year lease just to make sure we won’t move… I don’t want to move again for a long time either. Not until we find a house we wish to buy and buy it.

What wouldn’t we give for a house we don’t have to move from eventually. :)

Homework Sales

If my family was going hungry, I think I would pick up a job doing college kid’s homework. Gosh darn my own opinion.

I never was very good in class, but I hardly ever cheated. :) I did cheat on one paper and I continue to feel guilty about it. I’ve never done that before and I am pretty sure the teacher knew and let me slide. He was a cool guy though. I still wish I had done the right thing and wrote the paper myself, instead of copying passages from books and magazines.

It wasn’t completely copy and paste plagarism, but it was close.

Now, students need only to log on and search for a paper or pay for one to be custom made. I don’t think I would have done that for college classes. I can’t judge I guess, I never went to college.

But it does irk me that doctors and lawyers want their college papers written for them. The future of our society.

Anyways, I got an email today from someone wanting homework done for them. Go figure. I ignored the email for the most part but I guess it is something that would have come eventually.

I got trade magazines in the mail today. I sort of forgot about it as the last couple of days I have been trying to focus on my main wants as a writer. Trade magazines don’t fit into my fiction/kids structure. I might go through the material and see if I would be interested in writing for the magazine but I don’t think I will. I’ll probably keep the mags though. You never know when the material may be useful.

Anyways, I may be writing for another review place. I plan on doing my own reviews online. I have already started with book reviews as I do that anyways. I know my opinions probably don’t matter. ;) I like the free books though.

Another day… another one lost. I’ve got a short story to write.
