Funny People

I hoped this was a joke, but apparently agents get this all the time.
Ad on Craig’s List today:
Author needing an excellent, established literary agent to promote the next new best seller. Said novel is scheduled for completion in October of 2007. The novel is fact based fiction, spanning three generations of the Clevenger family’s Tennessee mountain heritage. It contains extreme, unforseen twists and turns, as well as acurate and vivid descriptions of mountain life. It is written in a style similar to V.C.Andrews, but also contains a touch of Hemmingway’s shock value. Agent must be able to make submissions to Simon & Schuster, New York. Thank you for your time in reviewing this information.Â
*Laugh laugh laugh* I can just imagine Miss Snark taking a whack at this one. Oi! You know, really makes you feel bad for agents when they have to put up with this.
For anyone who comes across this and doesn’t know why this is very bad, and you are interested in publishing a novel, better start reading Miss Snark.
