I am finally getting around to reaching out to places for links. My main writing website is already listed with Yahoo, etc, though I just added the blog page and other pages.
There are a LOT of directories out there. It is going to take a while to get all of those out there. I can see why a lot of people skip this part, because there are so many.
I know there are all sorts of programs out there that will do this stuff for you, but really, I don’t trust them. There is something about doing it yourself, and making sure you did it right for all of your websites that is really something.
Here’s a tip, unless you’re a nitwit like me, limit the amount of blogs/websites you start. It’s a hassle to work through all of them, really. It takes time to build websites, and pages and do all this work that needs to be done. It is nice once all the links are added, but wow, a lot of work.
What I love about it is that you can do it all for free on your own, or with little money put down. I pay about $9 a year for my domains, and I think I am at $10 a month hosting. That’s pretty good compared to other services out there. I have to give a thumbs up to HostGator for being a good host. I spent years trying to find a good host, and flipped over from different hosts. Yahoo was expensive, there were some that would have consistant downtimes and at one host I was hacked into several times and then the girl gave up so I had to find someone else.
