Miss My Chair
February 4th, 2007 by Me
I finally purchased a comfortable chair so I would feel better while sitting in front of the computer. Unfortunately soon after, there was a kitten born in the house. Guess which room was best suited for it? Yes, my office. So thought it might be better not to have a rolling chair, where I might roll over the little thing. Back to the strait back chair. Hurts my back sitting in it so long. How is a writer supposed to sit and write in an uncomfortable chair?
Like other writers, I have things I need in place before I can write. I need my hair pulled away from my face and need a blanket wrapped around my shoulders. I probably look like an old woman when I am typing. I also need something to put my feet up on. I can’t stand my feet being planted on the floor. Usually need a glass of water nearby too.
One weird thing is… I usually like headphones on. Even if I am not listening to anything in particular. Maybe it keeps the sounds of the world muffled or something. I don’t really understand it. Maybe it keeps my ears warm. Who knows.
I suppose it is much better than drugs and booze. I doubt I could write a word doing that sort of stuff. I don’t know how other writers do it. Or artists for that matter. How do you keep the paint brush steady? I can’t keep my pencil steady normally…
