WRITING MARKETS
These are my top resources for writing markets. Markets are not really ‘jobs’ where you are hired to write. They are places where you send queries or send in manuscripts to appeal to editors.
The best free market listings:
Writers Weekly - This great website has markets in the weekly newsletter, on the website and in the message board. Don’t forget to check out all the other great content and articles.
Agent Query - Those looking for an agent will be delighted to learn of this place that lists content for free.
The Market List - For fantasy, horror and sci-fi writers.
Writers Write List - Long list of paying markets.
Publisher Database - This place is new to me, but looks really cool. It even has a submission tracker. You do have to register, but it is free.
Best market listings that you pay for:
(Fees vary, but they are legitimate and reliable resources. Remember, no matter what
resource you look at, the latest information will always be posted on the magazine or book publisher website first. Don’t forget to check those sources too before submitting anything.)
Writer’s Market - Often described as the ‘Writer’s Bible’, highly recommended.
Writing-World - If you know where you want to submit your work, pay for only markets that you will actually use, like fantasy or horror.
Absolute Write - Sends market leads via email and also freelance work gigs via email.
